Mayor Mike Pantelides Officially Files for Reelection

Annapolis, MD - Today, April 21, 2017 lifelong resident Mayor Mike Pantelides, submitted his candidacy officially filing for reelection.

“Three and a half years ago I ran to become the Mayor of Annapolis because our city was at a crossroads.  Our community faced a $7.3 million budget deficit, rising taxes, overdevelopment projects such as Crystal Springs, 110 Compromise street and other threats that were made to our quality of life.   I stood up to the outside interests on behalf of all Annapolitans.”

“We eliminated the deficit by passing three on time and balanced budgets without raising the real property tax rate.  We enacted environmental safeguards like the forest conservation ordinance and sent the developers for Crystal springs and 110 Compromise Street packing.  We secured $1.25 million for our public safety officers to assist in combatting violent crime.”

“We have accomplished a lot during these first three and half years but we aren’t done yet.”

“I am looking forward to meeting with residents to discuss issues and working together to increase the quality of life in our community.   My number one priority will continue to be your public safety.  While maintaining fiscal discipline, I will continue to be a strong advocate for environmental stewardship.”

Mayor Pantelides is active in the community on many levels. He was appointed to serve on Governor Larry Hogan’s Workforce Development Board (GWDB) focusing on developing policies and strategies to better form a workforce system from a variety of education, employment and training programs.  Pantelides is also a board member of the 21st century education foundation and the Visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. The mayor actively sits on the County Executive’s Heroin Task Force, the Legislative Committee for the Maryland Municipal League, and is the past Vice Chair of the Baltimore Regional Transit Board.
